Botox Injections in Miami

Hands down, the most popular cosmetic treatment in the United States is the injectable botulinum toxin A, a derived protein that works to relax targeted muscles and is especially effective at vanishing forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet.

Although Botox® has dominated the U.S. market in recent years, formidable competitors such as Dysport® and Xeomin® are joining the ranks to give patients more options than ever before.

All three botulinum toxin A injectables vary only in the ways that they are diluted, dosed and administered. All boast similar effects offering great results. If used correctly, all can have similar clinical results. For the purpose of the rest of this discussion, all three products discussed will be referred to as Botox®. Be sure to give our trusted dermatology team a dial at 305.532.4478 to learn whether Botox®, Dysport®, or Xeomin® is right for you!

What Is Botulinum Toxin A (Botox®)?

A dermatology professional’s perfected technique and proven artistry are never more in demand than during the delivery of a botulinum toxin A injectable. When you choose to get your Botox® cosmetic treatment at Greater Miami Skin & Laser Center, you are receiving the precise placement technique by board-certified dermatologists who, in turn, have taught and currently teach other dermatologists from around the world how to inject Botox®. This means that you are getting the best and longest-lasting results from your Botox® treatment because it is being administered by a certified dermatologist.

What Areas Can Be Treated With Botox®?

Botox® treatments can be performed in a number of locations, including:

  • Between your eyebrows (the 11’s)
  • Around the eye area (crow’s feet)
  • In the forehead

What Results Can I Expect With Botox®?

You can begin to see results within a few days and they generally last up to four months. Other areas such as the lower third of the face and neck can also be treated but should only be done by experienced injectors at the Greater Miami Skin & Laser Center.

Botox® for Migraines & Hyderhidrosis

Botox® has also been shown to be effective in many areas that involve muscle and nerve concerns such as migraine headaches and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). Although many areas are being injected today, remember that the 11’s, the crow’s feet, forehead, areas of hyperhidrosis and migraines are the only FDA-approved indications for Botox®. All other areas are considered off-label but can be administered by experienced hands. Botox® is so simple and essentially painless and has been injected in over 70 countries as well as in millions of happy patients.

While the results are dramatic, Botox® will not radically change your facial appearance. The muscles are simply relaxed so you can still frown, smile, or look surprised without lasting wrinkles and creases which in turn gives one a more rested, youthful appearance.

Can Botox® Be Combined With Other Facial Rejuvenation Treatments?

Botox® is often injected at the same time as dermal fillers such as Juvederm®, Voluma®, Belotero®, Restylane®, Perlane® and Radiesse®. In fact, combining Botox® with a wrinkle filler or volume replacement products will prolong the effects of both procedures.

Are There Any Side Effects with Injectable Fillers?

Just like other cosmetic treatments, all three injectables we offer at Great Miami Skin and Laser Center can come with several side effects. After receiving either BOTOX, Dysport, or Xeomin, patients may experience:

  • Pain at the injection site
  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Droppy eyelids or eyebrows
  • Watery or dry eyes
  • Infection
  • Double vision
  • Nausea or dizziness
  • Muscle weakness

While side effects such as bruising and swelling are common after injectable filler treatment and typically disappear within several days, other risks are quite rare. Under the personalized care of the highly experienced team at Greater Miami Skin and Laser Center, patients can expect to manage and avoid these risks if they occur.

Can You Combine More than One Injectable Filler?

Yes! It is perfectly safe to combine all three injectable fillers to achieve different aesthetics in your face in one session. Combining BOTOX with Xeomin or Dysport can help patients address multiple concerns at once without downtime and recovery from multiple treatments.

During your initial consultation with us, Dr. Martin N. Zaiac will help determine if combining multiple fillers can benefit you and help you achieve your aesthetic goals.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

The number of injectable treatments you may need will depend on your goals, the size of your treatment area, and how many fillers you will receive in one session. Most patients frequently see immediate results after one session to maintain their appearance.

BOTOX and Dysport injections usually last between three to four months. Xeomin can last patients up to six months. Most people return for follow-up filler treatments every six months, but patients who do not want to see any movement at all in their face can schedule sessions every 4 months.

How Can I Prepare for My Injectable Filler Treatment?

Preparing for your treatment can help it go smoothly. Before receiving your injectables, we recommend patients do the following to prepare properly:

  • Avoid drinking alcohol for at least one week before your treatment.
  • Do not take anti-inflammatory medications the week before your treatment.
  • Wait until healing has occurred to apply makeup.
  • Use a gentle facial cleanser.
  • Avoid applying pressure to your face.
  • Avoid tanning or prolonged time in the sun to avoid sunburns.
