If you’re looking for a way to eliminate stubborn fat with little recovery time you might consider CoolSculpting®. The treatment spot targets areas that aren’t responding to diet and exercise to reveal a more contoured physique. At Greater Miami Skin & Laser Center, we utilize this noninvasive option to sculpt areas that are genetically predisposed to store excess fat and create a slimmer look.
How does CoolSculpting work?
CoolSculpting uses a method called cryolipolysis to eliminate unwanted fat. Because fat freezes at a higher temperature than skin, CoolSclupting can destroy those cells while leaving the skin and surrounding tissue unaffected.Â
Benefits of CoolSculpting
For many of our busy patients, taking weeks off of work to recover isn’t on the agenda. Unlike more invasive surgical procedures, CoolSculpting has little to no downtime. You might experience some mild soreness, redness, or slight bruising around the treated area, but you can generally return to your normal activities immediately after treatment.
If you’re happy with your overall size but avoid wearing certain clothing styles because of where you naturally carry weight, CoolSculpting can contour these areas and make it easier to wear what you like.
Because the procedure permanently destroys fat cells, you can expect to enjoy long-lasting results if you stay close to your current weight. Many patients find this great motivation to maintain a healthy diet and exercise routine.
CoolSculpting Treatment Areas
CoolSculpting is FDA-approved to eliminate stubborn fat in nine areas of the body: beneath your chin, your upper arms, your back, your abdomen, your underarms, your flank area (love handles), your inner and outer thighs, beneath your buttocks, and above your knees. If you want to tone or contour those areas, CoolSculpting could be an excellent option for you.

Am I a Candidate for CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting could be right for you if you’re at or close to your ideal weight but have subcutaneous fat that won’t budge. If you’re in generally good health and have an understanding of the benefits and limitations of CoolSculpting, you’re likely a strong candidate.
However, there are some conditions where CoolSculpting isn’t recommended, including:
- You’re not near your ideal weight: CoolSculpting generally isn’t recommended if you’re more than fifteen to twenty pounds away from your goal weight. While you’ll likely see a significant change in the mirror from this treatment, it won’t drastically tip numbers on the scale.
- You have a serious medical condition: Though CoolSculpting is noninvasive, we always recommend having any chronic conditions well managed before elective treatments.
- You’re about to start a family: If you’re planning on becoming pregnant soon, you should hold off on CoolSculpting until after you welcome the newest member of your family. This ensures your results are long-lasting.
- You have poor skin elasticity: Because CoolSculpting isn’t designed for skin tightening, you might not see the results you want if you have advanced skin laxity.
The best way to find out if you’re a good candidate for CoolSculpting is to consult with one of our experienced providers at Miami Skin & Laser Center.
How Long After CoolSculpting Will I See Results?
It generally takes one to three months to see the full results of CoolSculpting. Because each treatment removes about 20 to 25 percent of fat in the treated area, a second treatment might be recommended to achieve the definition you want.
