At Greater Miami Skin and Laser Center of Miami Beach and Hallandale Beach, FL, Dr. Martin Zaiac have committed their days to helping patients improve their skin and skin health. It is important for all patients to fully understand that there will need to be a change in skincare whenever there is a change in the seasons, especially when transitioning from the humid summer months to the drier fall season.
How do I transition my skincare regimen from summer to fall?
It is not uncommon for our team at Greater Miami Skin and Laser Center to see patients who have been performing the same skincare routine over the entire year. However, your skin has different needs in different environments, so it is vital that you are mindful as to how you treat your skin during these transitioning seasons. Below are a few tips and recommendations from our team:
- Dryness. The fall months cause a drop in humidity which can make the air dry–and in turn, cause the skin to become dry as well. Indoor spaces with increased heat pulls moisture from the air and can aggravate dry skin, especially in patients who struggle with maintaining eczema. Keeping the skin moisturized and hydrated in the fall is more critical than in the summer months.
- Cleansers. Oil, sweat, and outside activities during the summer lead dermatologists to recommend stronger skin cleansers, though during the fall months, switching to a gentler cleanser may be a good idea.
- Sunscreen. It is essential that you wear sunscreen all year long, though if you are spending more time indoors during the fall, you may be able to switch to a lower SPF sunscreen on the skin. Still use sunblock that protects the skin from both UVA and UVB rays.
