Protecting Your Skin While Traveling for the Holidays

As you embark on your holiday travels, it’s important to remember your skincare. With so much to do and people to see, it can be easy to miss a day of moisturizing or swap out your usual cleanser for whatever’s at a relative’s house. However, during the winter season, especially when traveling to a cooler climate, it’s important to take extra measures to protect your skin.

Consider Temperature Changes

Whether you’re staying local in Florida or headed to a colder part of the country, make sure you protect your skin accordingly. For example, in Florida, we may spend more time outside with our loved ones. In this case, you might want to boost your sun protection.

In cooler climates, you shouldn’t go without sunscreen, but you may want to increase your moisturizer to prevent dryness.

Pack Your Products for Airports

Use TSA-approved bottles to make sure your skincare products are ready to pass through security. Flyers can bring a quart-sized bag of liquids, creams, ointments, etc. that are in bottles no larger than 3.4 ounces. If you can buy sealed, travel-size versions of your favorite products, this can make the security check even easier.

Keep Your Face Clean

It can be easy to forget how important regular washing is during the holidays. With so much going on, many women even find themselves falling asleep without removing their makeup!

  • Be sure to wash your face with lukewarm water at least twice a day.
  • Carry facial wipes and makeup remover wipes for easy cleaning.
  • Avoid touching your face to prevent breakouts.

Mind Your Diet

What you eat plays a large role in how your skin looks. We know the holidays are a time to indulge in our favorite treats, but be mindful of your sugar intake and limit fried foods as much as possible. Also, avoid excessive alcohol consumption, which can dehydrate your skin.
